MerConcept was set up in 2006 by François Gabart, originally while he was still a student at INSA. MerConcept was born from his ambition to pursue a multifaceted, successful career as a professional skipper.
“I knew that if I wanted to go solo offshore racing I wanted and needed my own set up. ”

This is underlined by successes such as the Solitaire du Figaro, on which he finished second in 2010, then winning the Vendée Globe 2012/2013 and the Route du Rhum 2014 on the IMOCA MACIF 60.
MerConcept went from strength to strength in 2013, when the main partner entrusted the structure with the creation, management and sailing of a new foil equipped trimaran.
