A COMPANY WHICH HOSTS AND CONSTRUCTS OCEAN RACING PROJECTS

Specialising in ocean racing since its creation, MerConcept assists skippers and companies with the design, manufacture and project management of their boats in collaboration with partner yards.

Since 2018, MerConcept has been operating as a designer and technical partner to work with different yards on projects such as the new Imoca VandB Monbana Mayenne which was launched in June 2022 and was designed for a second trip around the world on a reliable, innovative and high-performance boat and the project for the new Imoca MACIF Santé Prévoyance (previously Apivia 2), built in the Port-La-Forêt yards and launched in June 2023.

Our workshop

Our workshop has four areas dedicated to hosting, storage, material preparation and part design, enabling smooth movement between the construction stages and the successful completion of construction projects at MerConcept.

Hall

A large 1400 m² space, the hall provides us with a permanent area to host both our IMOCA MACIF Santé Prévoyance and SVR-Lazartigue Trimaran ocean racing projects and our construction projects.

Clean Room

Dedicated to storing and designing parts while working on pre-impregnated components, this room contains an 18m² oven that enables us to manufacture complex, high added value composite parts, using specific manufacturing techniques and fibres, according to ocean racing quality standards.

Grey Room

With woodworking, sanding, dust and CNC activities, this room is where machining and milling operations are carried out. Digital technology enables us to carry out machining and milling operations with a high finish quality, working on different materials such as technical plastics, glass or carbon composites, wood and all soft materials.

CNC enables us to increase production speed while maintaining optimum manufacturing quality, with a lower risk of machined part wear and greater reliability, while reducing the fragility of the parts produced, even on small or narrow diameter parts.

Chemicals room

Solvent aspiration, resin mix and paint preparation; this room which is dedicated to material preparation enables us to optimise the part design process at MerConcept.

Production optimised by a direct link between the workshop and the design office

MerConcept has chosen to set up our workshop and offices in the same place in order to create a virtuous cycle and create a direct link between the design office and production to facilitate exchanges and optimise design and production.

Our expertise

Assembly

Assembly is now at the heart of MerConcept’s expertise and has been since 2019, thanks to the SVR-LAZARTIGUE Trimaran project. In fact, while this Trimaran’s central hull and floats were manufactured at Multiplast and CDK Technologies, our teams carried out all the assembly operations, a first for an ocean racing team.

System integration

Integrating complex systems into our boats is at the heart of our know-how. The close co-operation between our design office and our workshop guarantees us excellent anticipation in mounting systems and optimum integration.

Composite expertise

The manufacture of complex, high added value composite parts, using specific manufacturing techniques and fibres, according to ocean racing quality standards, is at the heart of MerConcept’s know-how.

Hydrofoil system design

MerConcept’s design office and its workshop intervened on different projects as technical partner in a host of aspects: design of the hydrofoils and associated systems, one-off part manufacture, design and integration of on board hydrofoil systems, hosting of the project during the final reworking and finalisation phases.

Boat design in collaboration with architects

MerConcept intervenes in boat design in collaboration with architects and join forces with major partner yards in construction teams to design and built boats.
